Tigerlily
Large Scale Projection
We provided projection services for a 5 week run during December 2015/16, which was repeated for the 2016/17 Festive season. Tigerlily is one of Edinburgh’s top bar/restaurants with boutique hotel on the upper floors based in a converted Georgian townhouse in Edinburgh’s Historic George Street.
About the project
We were contracted by them to design and deliver an original projection show which was turned around in an incredibly short timeframe. The content ran to around 30 minutes and revolved around the idea of being able to see what was happening behind the windows of this historic building in the past and today. to that and We engaged Andy MacGregor to shoot and animate original content telling the varied stories of Georgian Edinburgh plus content for Sponsors and the Visit of Santa along with his late night departure in a slightly more disheveled manner after a night of partying.
As the main canvas for this was the windows themselves, we fitted Dual view film allowing a projectable surface without losing the view from the windows in the hotel bedrooms. The projectors were a pair a Panasonic DZ21ks installed into the meeting room of the bank across the road in a custom plynth so the were inobstrusive for the bank.
They were slightly off access so the alignment and stacking was done using the Geometry manager software which also applied a bitmap mask to the edges and a feathered mask to the lower edge. The end result was a pixel perfect fit at over 250 lux.
The content was run from a pair of brightsign players and all content updates and projector management was managed remotely over a Wifi link . This meant that once the units were physically installed we did not need to access the site which would have been difficult to arrange, but as both projectors and playback were fully automated and any updates could be done remotely the system ran flawlessly without physical intervention for over a month.
The projections were well received and unusually people stopped for some time and watched as the stories of georgian life played out in the windows proving that its not big effects that matter as much as engaging stories told in an artful way.

Blue Moon List Party
Edinburgh, UK
War Productions provided projection services for The List magazine’s 2016 Festival Party. Projecting onto the Royal Dick pub at Edinburgh’s charismatic Summerhall.
We rigged a 21k up a fire escape and the brightness allowed us to have it lined up, geometry corrected and some complex masking applied an hour before sundown. meaning when the part started in twilight, the creative (generated by ourselves) was clearly visible.
